It's been a long ride for indie/pop band Ghost Beach. They first signed with Atlantic Records back in 06. Since then they had an EP and a number of hit singles. And it all culminates to this moment. Today, Ghost Beach announced a release date for their debut album Blonde. If that's not enough to brighten up this snow plagued day, well then this new jam by them should do the trick.
The holiday season has kept us a bit preoccupied. To make up for our stilled performance, here's a medley of jams to get you throught the week. First up, Sam Smith injects a bit of soul into the Synthpop world with his debut single Money On My Mind.
Next up is Akouo's psychedelic remix of Flume's Bring You Down.
On deck we have Backstroke's unofficial remix of Tegan and Sara's Closer.
To wind things up here's Kygo's remix of Ellie Goulding's cover of High For This.
The Explorers' new release The Rocketeer is truly synth pop bliss. It's a wonder it has under six thousand plays on Soundcloud. Let's see if we can boost that a bit.
While you're at it, check out the rest of their jams here. And yes, that was a Dora the Explorer pun.
Ah, the 90's. Pogs flying across wrists entrenched in slap bands. The aroma of Capri Sun fills the air as girls dressed in plaid skirts, and knotted up white button downs, tend to their tamagotchies. What a time it was to be young. And while our former succubus, Britney Spears, now reminds us more of manic depression than a youth discovering her sexuality; there may be more left to her yet. Well at least with the help of the New York DJ dua: The Jane Doze. They rejuvenate a rather played song, like a Botox shot to the ears. And this remix, well, it works bitch.
The 1975 have been making waves lately. Their self titled album reached 28 on the US Billboard 200, and the reception has been well deserved. If you're jonesing for some more 1975, you may be glad to discover that they had four EPs prior to their debut album (Facedown, Sex, Music for Cars, and IV). And, yes the all fucking rock.
What was once a college mag, has turned into a music giant. And this weekend CMJ is hosting it's annual Music Marathon (the "MM") in NYC. The MM is a unique showcase turning 80 local bars into music venues with over 1,000 acts. The MM is rocking from sunup to sunset until the 19th of this month. Here are some must see gigs:
Magic Man - October 17th @ Santos Party House - 10:30pm
I've written about them in the past. Check out their EP below.
While you're there, stick around for Little Daylight whose going on at midnight.
We here at Eskimo Jams have been huge 1975 fans since their first EP, Facedown. Their, self titled, debut album dropped in September and it's indie rock at its finest. The album is streaming free on Grooveshark and Spotify. I recently saw them live and they absolutely crushed it.
CHVRCHES's debut album finally dropped, and it's ear candy at its best. It's streaming on Spotify, Grooveshark, and NPR. I caught them live last Sunday, and my ears are still radiating bliss.
They're currently touring so if they're in your neighborhood here's what you have in store:
Eskimo Jams is a music blog started by two eskimo bros with one common goal: sharing their love of music with the people they love. Like the page to keep up to date with what's current in all things rock, indie, synthpop, and dreamwave.
